Everything I Have Actually Checked
Thirty-one product pages, grouped by what they are, and five brand reviews at the end. Seven of the product pages end in a recommendation, and the rest tell you what they missed.
The short answer
Seven of the thirty-one product pages end in a recommendation. The Eurotech Elevate, the iOO in its Ergohuman XTREME form, the Vera if its 18.9 in seat floor fits you, the NewHeights Bonita ET desk, the FlexiSpot E7 standing desk frame, the Powershred LX220 shredder and the Wade Logan Azriah sofa. If you are furnishing a whole corner, start with the breakfast nook, reading nook or work nook pages instead.
This is the full list of things I have looked at properly, which means reading the manufacturer’s own documentation, checking whether you can still buy one, and writing down what is missing. Most of them I do not recommend. The category documents itself badly, and each page says exactly which check went unanswered.
How anything earns a recommendation is set out in how I check numbers. There are two standards, one for things sold in shops and one for furniture sold through dealers, and the page explains why they are different.
Chairs and stools
Eurotech Elevate · Recommended. In stock, ANSI/BIFMA, GREENGUARD, and a lifetime warranty on everything but upholstery and foam. I have used one daily since 2020.
Fellowes Elea · Worth it if. A suspended seat on four steel rods, 275 lb capacity, and a warranty that says nothing about the frame.
Eurotech iOO · Recommended. A lifetime warranty in writing, the same chair now sold as the Ergohuman XTREME with the headrest in the box, and an old-name listing that wants $240 more.
Eurotech Vera · Recommended, with a caveat. Still made and still stocked at the ergonomic dealers. The seat stops at 18.9 in, so under about five foot four you need a footrest, and one dealer’s warranty copy still prints 250 lb where Eurotech’s own page says 275.
Tempur-Pedic office chairs · Which of them are worth the money and which are badge engineering.
Birdi perching stool · Discontinued. A 13 in fixed base, the smallest footprint here, and a seat that stops at 35 in.
Ottomans with a back · Five stools, poufs and convertibles for when a chair is too much furniture.
Desks and tables
Fellowes Levado · Not a pick, because you cannot buy one. Every US seller checked was sold out or had dropped the listing. Includes what to buy instead.
Standing desk converters for a corner desk · The depth minimums, which units their makers rate for corners, and what the warranties actually say.
Height-adjustable corner desks · Which worksurface shapes fit a 90 degree corner, and what the leg count does to the weight rating.
NewHeights Bonita ET · Recommended. Ten worksurface shapes including two real corner tops, the clearest warranty here, and an ETL-listed lift system.
FlexiSpot E7 · A two-motor standing desk frame rated to 355 lb, with a 15-year warranty on the frame, motor and electronics. Buy it, then add a top.
FlexiSpot vs Uplift · The E7 Pro beside the Uplift V3, and whether the V3 is worth nearly $100 more. Only if you are short.
ESI Enmo · Discontinued. Six worksurfaces, every one a rectangle, so it never did corners at all.
Fellowes Lotus, Lotus DX and Lotus LT · Not a pick, and the closest call yet. In stock at a named price, asking for 26.3 in of desk depth it never explains.
Ergotron WorkFit-TL and WorkFit-T · Worth it if. Both 23 in deep, both stated to rise straight up, and neither is named in Ergotron’s warranty document.
Ergotron WorkFit-TX · Worth it if. Rated for corner workspaces, 32 by 27 in of surface, and no minimum desk depth published anywhere.
Ergotron WorkFit Corner · Worth it if. The only converter built for a corner desk, and Ergotron publishes two different minimum desk depths for it.
S2S sit-stand workstation · Discontinued. What it was and what it did well.
Special-T Ella and Aim · Worth it if. Fixed-height rectangles 24 or 30 in deep, no corner version, and no published weight capacity.
Monitor arms
Monitor arms for small desks · The comparison, and the one that came out ahead.
Kata 2 dual arm · Not a pick. In stock and genuinely good, but nobody will state its warranty and nobody publishes the clamp thickness.
Lighting
LED task lights for small desks · What actually fits when the desk is the problem.
Fellowes Lily and Lily LEDx · Worth it if. Ten years of cover from Fellowes, fifteen in the guide that shipped in the box, and no safety mark on either.
LightCorp Amble · Not a pick. Discontinued by both companies that sold it, and the only fully documented safety listing here.
Power
Fellowes FlexCharge 4, 4C and 4CX · Worth it if. The grommet hole is 2.3 in, not the 2.0 in the brochure advertises.
Shredders
Fellowes Powershred LX220 and LX210 · Recommended. Twenty sheets, a seven year blade warranty, and no safety mark on anything Fellowes publishes.
Air care
Start here: air purifiers and humidifiers, and what the certifications say · The room-size table across all three AeraMax units, the filter part numbers with prices, and where each machine stands.
Fellowes AeraMax 90 · Worth it if the room is under about 110 sq ft. The manual says 90. Every listing says 100 to 200.
Fellowes AeraMax 190 · Worth it if the room is around 200 sq ft. Also covers the AeraMax 200 and DX55, which are the same machine.
Fellowes AeraMax 290 · Worth it if the room is around 300 sq ft. The best clean air per dollar of running cost in the range, and the only one a dealer will ship.
Boneco W200 air washer · Worth it if you want a humidifier. It is still on sale, and there is no certified figure anywhere for how much air it cleans.
Boneco H680 · Not a pick at $1,100. Still buyable, but Boneco prints a clean-air figure no laboratory ever certified. Covers the P500 too.
Nursery
Diaper caddy organizers · Three with real owner feedback behind them, out of a category of near-identical baskets, plus the sizing mistake that costs $5 to avoid.
Brand reviews
Wayfair house brands · A grown-up bed, a tidy hallway and a sofa that fits, one piece from each of four Wayfair brands.
Mercury Row · The affordable bed that makes a room look done.
Lark Manor · Affordable pieces that look expensive, starting at the front door.
Ebern Designs · Start with the mirror.
Wade Logan Azriah sofa · Looks expensive, sits firm.
Castlery · The sofa that comes built and wipes clean.
