Our sofa is a secondhand Crate & Barrel from a relative. It’s where I sink in with a book, under our IKEA floor lamp. But the springs in the seat have started to go.

A seat you sink into is hard to give up, and it’s the whole idea behind the RH Cloud. It was a celebrity favorite, with Kendall Jenner and Kerry Washington among its owners, before TikTok put it in front of everybody. Plenty of people wanted one after that, and RH’s price sent a lot of them looking for a dupe.

From the photos, a cloud couch looks like ours turned up a notch, though I haven’t sat on one. If we did replace it, I’d want a regular three-seater in the same spot. Our IKEA Kallax and dresser sit right behind it, and I’d want them to stay put.

Would I buy one without sitting on it? It depends. For a budget sofa I’d take the chance, and for one I plan to keep for years, I’d sit on it first.

Which budget cloud couch dupe is worth a chance?

All five, whether you want a straight three-seater, a love seat or one of three L-shapes. The boneless ones, the ovios, Ohllob and MAXYOYO, arrive with nothing to build and take up to three days to puff up all the way. In 2025, videos of boneless couches filling out fresh from the box caught on across TikTok.

Best three-seaterGizoon 3 Seater Cloud Sofa

Best for: replacing a worn-out sofa without rethinking the room.

There’s room for three of you to spread out, and it sits higher than the boneless L-shapes below. That should make it easy to get up from at the end of a movie.

The plush corduroy looks soft enough to sink your hand into, and you’ll love the range of colors, from camel to pink. With your feet up on that long chaise, it looks made for slow Sundays.

Best for rearrangingOhllob Cloud Sectional with Ottoman

• Amazon see price

Best for: a den or playroom that does a bit of everything.

Its ottoman can be a coffee table one night and an extra seat the next. On TikTok, videos of one woman rearranging her own modular cloud-style sofa took off, and the Ohllob’s other six pieces let you do the same at home. It turns into a sofa bed, too, which is great when your friends stay over and nobody wants the floor.

Which cloud couch dupes are worth keeping for years?

These four. Each has a real frame under the cushions, and you can sit on it in a store or live with it at home before it’s yours for good.

• Cozey about $1,920

Best for: a big living room with a long wall to fill.

Cozey has a store coming soon to Fifth Avenue. If the New York store has one on the floor, the XL is the Cozey I’d sit on first. And if your sofa sees its share of spills, covers that come off for the wash make cleanup easy.

If feathers in the seat are what you love about the RH Cloud, you’ll find them here. Ours is a Crate & Barrel too, so next time I’m in one of its stores, this is the one I’d sit on.

• Inside Weather about $1,870

Best for: a long living room wall, and anyone who can’t get to a store.

The memory foam is sold as the sink-in cushion, but shoppers say it can feel firm, so I’d lean toward the Classic Blend, layers of foam with a soft top. There’s no showroom, so you get to know it at home instead, and a year from delivery is plenty of time to be sure you love it.

• Living Spaces about $1,500

Best for: someone near a Living Spaces showroom who wants down in the seat.

Living Spaces lists the comfort as plush, but owners say the down-wrapped seat is still firm enough that you don’t sink in. So if you love a sink-in seat like I do, sit on one in a showroom first. For reading or working on a laptop, though, a seat that holds you up is a great thing to have.

What makes a good Restoration Hardware Cloud couch dupe?

A good RH Cloud couch dupe copies its deep, feather-wrapped seat, and the closest ones match its frame, depth and modules, too.

What the RH Cloud is

• Feather and down wrapped around foam in the seat, which is what lets you sink in. On TikTok, the gripe you’ll hear most about cloud couches is that they don’t hold their shape, so fluffing the cushions just comes with owning one
• Sold new by RH itself, in its galleries and at rh.com, and secondhand on resale sites like AptDeco and Chairish
• “Guaranteed for life,” which covers the frame, springs and cushions for the first owner but leaves out the fabric, so the cover is on you either way
• 196 special-order fabrics, Classic Belgian Linen among them, delivered in 4 to 6 weeks

Where a sofa offers a cotton or linen cover, I’d take it, and keep a throw over it while our daughter’s little.

What the closest ones match

• Fill. The Lounge Deep and the Cirrus come closest, with feather-down or down wrapped around foam. The rest are built on foam.
• Frame. The Cloud sits on a wood frame with springs under the seat. All four keep-for-years picks have a frame, while the ovios and Ohllob have none at all.
• Depth. The Classic Cloud is 40 inches deep, front to back. The Ciello XL, Bondi, Cirrus and Lounge Deep match or beat that overall, and the Gizoon and LINSY are shallower.
• Modules. RH makes modular Clouds, and the Ciello XL, Bondi, LINSY, Ohllob and MAXYOYO come apart in pieces too.

Where can you sit on a cloud couch dupe before you buy?

At Living Spaces, at Crate & Barrel and at Cozey’s stores and pop-ups, with one on the way in New York.

Living Spaces sells several cloud-named sofas, the Cirrus Cloud Down and the Adelina “Big Comfy Cloud Sofa” among them, and its showrooms are mostly in California and Texas. Read the cover before you fall for a name, since the Paloma III “Cotton” sofa is 100% polyester chenille.

Cozey’s sofas are in its stores in Canada and at pop-ups in Los Angeles and Chicago.

Costco’s cloud couch, the Luxe 4-piece Bouclé sectional “with Luxury Cloud Seating,” is sold online only.

For the Bondi, Inside Weather offers a video call with its design team and swatches that are free apart from the shipping.

Crate & Barrel’s site shows whether a sofa is on display at your local store. I’ve already tried a few at the Union Square store.

What didn’t make the cut

The 7th Avenue 3-Seat Modular Sofa came close, but its seats can sink or go flat within months.

Of the other Amazon cloud couches, the Yomsum comes only as a sectional, and the MONVANE is a floor sofa.
