The Elea Chair, and the Dimensions Nobody Publishes
Fellowes publishes more about it than they did a year ago. The two measurements you would actually sit on are still missing.

The short answer
Worth it if you can get the frame warranty in writing, and I have now checked this three times. Fellowes publishes a 275 lb capacity and a list price, the chair appears on state contract schedules and at a national reseller, and the Elea is listed by name in the BIFMA Compliant register. That is more than was published when I first wrote this page.
It misses the bar on the warranty. Fellowes covers seating mesh, upholstered items, plastic parts and paint for five years, and states no term at all for the aluminium chassis and the four steel rods, which is the part of this chair worth paying for. That warranty also applies only to purchases made after June 5, 2025. Add the missing seat height and seat depth and you are being asked to spend contract money on a chair you cannot size and whose frame carries no stated coverage.
What I can still do is tell you what it is, why the mechanism is interesting, and exactly which questions to put to a dealer.
What makes it different
Most task chairs bolt the seat pan to the chassis. The Elea hangs it. Trendway calls the mechanism Omni-Kinetic Suspension Technology, and the substance of it is four industrial-grade alloy steel rods forming a load-bearing support for a suspended seat pan, sitting above a curved cast aluminium chassis.
The effect is that the seat gives as you shift rather than holding you in one position. Rob Day, Trendway’s executive vice president of customer experience, put it as “the chair will move with you” when the chair launched.
Beyond the suspension it is a conventional task chair. Breathable mesh, height adjustment, adjustable tension, a tilt lock with three positions, and hubless casters. It was engineered by Horizon Design, the in-house industrial design team at Fellowes Brands, and the design picked up a Platinum ADEX Award in 2019 before the wider launch.
The problem with buying one
Trendway’s product page carries the features above and a phone number. It does not publish a seat height range, a seat depth, a weight capacity, a warranty term, or BIFMA and GREENGUARD certifications. Those live in a product sheet you download or a conversation you have with a dealer.
For a contract buyer specifying forty chairs that is fine, because a dealer is already in the loop. For someone measuring one awkward corner it is a wall. You cannot check whether the seat drops low enough for your desk, and you cannot compare it against anything on this site, because every other chair here has its numbers printed on a listing.
Flaw worth knowing
The absence of published dimensions is the flaw, and it is a real one. Every measurement that decides whether a chair fits a nook is behind a phone call. I could not verify a single dimension for this page, which is why there are no inches anywhere in it.
What to ask the dealer
Worth asking
Get the seat height range first, because that is what decides whether the chair works under your desk. Then seat depth, then weight capacity, then the warranty term and what it excludes. Ask whether the suspension is serviceable, since four steel rods carrying your weight is a wear part nobody has published a life figure for. And ask about the return path before you order, because dealer furniture rarely ships back as easily as a boxed chair.

No listing existed when I searched on August 5, 2026. It sells through Trendway dealers.
Who actually makes it?
Trendway, in Holland, Michigan, part of Fellowes Brands. The same parent company as the AeraMax purifiers and Powershred shredders covered elsewhere on this site.
What is the seat height range?
Trendway does not publish it. That is the honest answer, and it is the first thing to ask a dealer.
Correction, August 5, 2026. This page first said the Elea had no published weight capacity, no certification and no warranty, and its title said you could not buy one online. All four were wrong or had gone out of date. Fellowes publishes a 275 lb capacity, lists the chair as BIFMA Level certified on its own contract price list, covers parts of it under the Contract Interiors warranty, and it is carried by a national reseller. The seat height and seat depth are still unpublished, and it is still not a pick.
