I’ve had a standing desk in a corner of our den since 2020. It’s a RightAngle Bonita ET, and six years in, nothing about it has really bugged me.

What I like about mine is how steady it is and how low it comes down for sitting, so those are the two things I’d want from an E7, too.

Is the FlexiSpot E7 sturdy, and how much weight can it hold?

Yes, the E7 should be plenty sturdy for a home office, and it’s rated to hold up to 355 pounds. Even FlexiSpot’s 48 by 24 laminate top uses only 26 lb of that, so there’s a lot of room left for everything else.

You can write on it without it shaking, and owners say it’s sturdier than they expected.

The one soft spot is a little wobble at full height. It doesn’t come up often, and it only matters if you’re tall and work with the desk raised all the way up.

What are the FlexiSpot E7’s dimensions?

The E7’s frame stretches from 43.4 to 74.8 inches wide, and it takes a top 47.2 to 80 inches wide and 24 to 40 inches deep.

With a top at least 47.2 inches wide, the E7 needs a wall or a corner close to 4 feet across, so a smaller nook calls for a smaller desk.

FlexiSpot’s own laminate tops come in sizes from 48 by 24 up to 80 by 30, and there are bamboo and solid wood tops too, plus one with drawers. Size changes the cost more than you’d guess. A 72-inch top costs a lot more than a 60, so only go that big if your wall needs it.

I like how deep mine is. Two monitors and an open laptop fit on it nicely, and FlexiSpot sells a 48 by 30 laminate top for the E7, the same size as mine.

How high does the FlexiSpot E7 go?

The E7 goes from 22.8 inches at its lowest to 48.4 inches at its highest, measured without a top. Your top adds its own thickness at both ends, and FlexiSpot’s 48 by 24 laminate top is 1 inch thick.

My Bonita comes down to a standard desk height, 29 inches, and that’s where I find it most comfortable to sit. The E7 goes well below that, so it’d reach my sitting height with room to spare.

If you’re shorter than average, that low end is a real plus. At the other end, the E7 Pro reaches 2.2 inches higher, so it’s worth a look if you’re tall. Its range starts higher, too, which makes the E7 the better of the two for sitting low.

Does the FlexiSpot E7 have presets and anti-collision?

Yes, the E7 has both. It comes with FlexiSpot’s Premium Keypad, a touch screen that shows the height and saves the heights you use most. There’s a child lock, too, and a USB-C port for charging.

Every E7 has anti-collision, so the desk stops if it runs into something, and you can set how sensitive it is.

It can stop a little too easily, even on its least sensitive setting, but that’s the safe side to err on.

How loud and fast is the FlexiSpot E7?

On paper, the E7 is quiet and quick. FlexiSpot puts the noise under 50 decibels and the top speed at 3.8 centimeters (1.5 inches) a second.

In real homes, owners say the motors are quiet and smooth, and the desk moves up and down quickly.

How hard is the FlexiSpot E7 to get home and put together?

The E7’s frame comes in one long box, 45.1 inches end to end, and at 73.4 lb it’s a lot to get up the stairs on your own.

Shipping is free to the 48 contiguous states. Your top comes in its own box, and since tops can arrive scratched or dinged, open that one first. If yours is damaged, a replacement can show up within a few days.

Putting it together takes 40 minutes to an hour. The instructions can be confusing in places, and turning the finished desk upright takes two people.

Once it’s up, the cable tray that comes with it holds your cords under the desk. It doesn’t always sit snug under the top, but that’s an easy thing to live with.

What do the FlexiSpot E7’s warranty and returns cover?

The E7’s frame, motors and electronics are covered for 15 years. Your top gets 2 years, or 5 if it’s solid wood, like bamboo or rubberwood.

The warranty only covers the person who bought the desk, and it doesn’t cover scratches, dents or everyday wear. So if your top shows up scratched, take it up with FlexiSpot right away rather than counting on it later.

You get 30 days from delivery to return it, with free return shipping and no restocking fee if it’s like new. Otherwise there’s a 10 percent fee, and either way you’ll take it apart and pack it the way it came.

What goes wrong after a year or two? We read the newest reviews on FlexiSpot’s store, a small slice of the whole, and no long-term failure turns up in them. The problems are first-week ones, like a damaged top, a loose cable tray or a touchy anti-collision setting.

Reviews that new can’t tell you about year five, though, and that’s what the 15-year warranty is for.

How reputable is FlexiSpot, and is it a Chinese brand?

FlexiSpot is a well-established brand, and yes, its parent company is Chinese.

That parent is Loctek Ergonomic Technology, founded in 2002, based in Ningbo, China, and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2017. FlexiSpot.com was Loctek’s first website of its own, and it launched in the US.

The brand sells in more than 30 countries, and in the US you buy from FlexiSpot Inc., based in Irvine, California. A listed parent and a 15-year warranty on the motors are both good signs for a desk you’ll keep a while.

Should you buy the FlexiSpot E7?

Yes, for most home offices. It comes down low enough to sit at comfortably, and it stays steady unless you work with it raised all the way up.

If I were buying one, I’d get the E7 with a 48 by 30 laminate top.

FlexiSpot E7 vs E7 Pro: what’s the difference?

The E7 Pro is the step up. It lifts more and reaches a little higher, and its legs sit toward the back, which leaves more room under the desk.

It costs more, too, so the E7 is the better buy unless you need one of those.
