My Saatva Classic Went Close to Ten Years Without a Dip
A Saatva is a lot to spend on a mattress, so you want it to last. Here’s how mine held up, and what Saatva does if yours ever sags.
After I asked, Saatva sent me a free topper while my first mattress from them was breaking in, and another in December 2025.
The short answer
Saatva’s Classic and Memory Foam Hybrid are both built to last 10 to 15 years, and my Classic went close to a decade without sagging. I’d buy the Hybrid from Saatva for about $2,150 in a queen, since I barely feel my wife roll over on ours.
The numbers
- Built to last: 10 to 15 years with normal use
- Warranty: lifetime, for a dip deeper than 1.5 inches
- Rotate: after 6 months, then once a year, and never flip it
In 2016, I bought a Saatva Classic in a full for my first solo apartment, a studio in Queens. It went on an IKEA bed frame with IKEA slats. At first it was just me, and then my wife, back when she was still my girlfriend.
The topper Saatva sent stayed on for probably the first four years, and then I gave it away. Close to ten years later, the Classic itself was still extremely comfortable to sleep on, and it never had a dip that I noticed.
We only let it go because my wife was pregnant and the full was getting too tight. It went on Facebook Marketplace with the bed frame, still in good shape, and we moved up to a queen.
We tried a few different mattresses first, just to make sure, but I still kept coming back to Saatva. The queen we sleep on now is a Memory Foam Hybrid, delivered in November 2025, and my Saatva review covers how it’s going.
My Classic was one mattress, so I also read what Saatva promises and what other owners ran into. If you’re here for the warranty details, they’re at the bottom.
Which Saatva should you get?
I’d get the Memory Foam Hybrid, the queen we switched to. When my wife turns over, I can barely feel it, even when I try.
On our old Classic, I felt a lot more of it. If one of you wakes up every time the other rolls over, that’s reason enough to go with the Hybrid.

Saatva Classic, full, at SaatvaViewHow long does a Saatva Classic last?
Saatva builds it to last 10 to 15 years with normal use. That’s a good stretch longer than the 7 to 8 years Saatva gives a basic innerspring.
The Classic has individually wrapped coils on top and a whole second unit of tempered steel coils under them, put there to keep it from sagging over time.
My run wasn’t a fluke, either, since owners say their first Classic went around 10 years and a lot of them came back for a second one.
Do Saatva mattresses sag over time?
Mine didn’t, and most of the long-term reviews I read sound like mine. But some Classics do sag, anywhere from one to seven years in.
When one does, owners say Saatva usually fixed it or sold them a replacement for less. Now and then the repair doesn’t hold, or the replacement starts to dip as well.
A Saatva is a heavy mattress, so the slats under it need to be less than 4 inches apart. If yours are wider, lay a 1/2-inch sheet of plywood or a bunkie board over them, and give a platform bed a center leg.
How do you know yours is going? A faint outline where you sleep is normal on an innerspring. Watch instead for a dent that stays put, waking up achy, or trouble falling asleep.
If yours is starting to dip, my sagging mattress guide walks through measuring it and what to try first.
How often should a Saatva mattress be rotated?
Turn it head to foot after the first six months, then once a year after that. Saatva recommends it so the top breaks in evenly.
Just don’t flip it. The Classic has one sleeping side.
Plan on two people for the job. A queen Classic weighs 87 to 110 pounds in the shorter of its two heights, depending on the firmness, and that’s a lot to swing around on your own.
I rotated mine whenever I remembered, maybe once or twice a year.
What are the cons of a Saatva mattress?
If you want an innerspring and plan to keep it for years, there isn’t much to hold against it besides the motion a couple will notice.
You might get a shorter run if you’re a heavier sleeper. The Classic is rated for up to 300 pounds per sleeper, but owners on the heavy side say a sag can show up three to five years in, well before it’s meant to wear out.
What does Saatva’s warranty do if it sags?
Saatva covers a body impression deeper than 1.5 inches for as long as the original buyer owns the mattress, and what it does depends on the year.
| When | What Saatva does | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Years 1 and 2 | Replaces it | Nothing |
| Year 3 on | Repairs and re-covers it | about $150 processing fee |
| Year 3 on, a one-time option to buy a new one instead | Sells you one in the same model, size and firmness, final sale with no new trial, and you keep the old one | 50 percent of the original full retail price in years 3 to 5, 60 percent in 6 to 10, 80 percent in 11 to 15, plus a about $99 processing fee |
You’ll need a solid base under the mattress to keep the warranty, plus center support under a queen or bigger.
The warranty won’t cover staining, so a protector is an easy way to keep a spill from costing you a claim. I used one on mine.
Questions about how long a Saatva lasts
Is there a lawsuit against Saatva?
Yes, several. The ones I found details on are about Saatva’s discount ads, its eco-friendly claims and how well its website works for blind and visually impaired shoppers, not about mattresses wearing out. A case over those discounts, for people who ordered in California and Oregon, was settled, and Saatva didn’t admit to doing anything wrong.
Does the warranty pass to someone who buys it used?
No. It only covers the original buyer, so if yours ends up on Marketplace someday, the person who buys it won’t get the warranty.
Does the taller 14.5-inch Classic last longer?
No. Saatva builds both heights for the same feel and durability. If you want an adjustable base, get the 11.5-inch, since it’s the only height Saatva’s bases take.
What if it sags in the first year?
You’re covered two ways. Inside the first 365 nights you can send it back for a $99 processing fee, and in the first two years the warranty replaces a qualifying dip at no charge.
