Accessibility

I want you to be able to read and use this site, however you get around it.

Last updated October 8, 2026.

I aim for the web’s standard accessibility guidelines, WCAG 2.2 at level AA, and I check the site against them.

What’s in place

  • Every image and diagram has alt text, so a screen reader can tell you what’s in it.
  • Every link and button shows a clear outline when you reach it with a keyboard, so you can see where you are, even on the dark footer.
  • A “Skip to content” link lets you jump past the menu to the page itself.
  • On a phone, even the smallest labels are big enough to read without zooming, and the main buttons are easy to tap with a thumb.
  • The nook planner and the air purifier room-size calculator label every field, so you know what each box is asking for.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, the site honors that setting.

How it gets checked

An automated accessibility checker found no failures against WCAG 2.2 AA on the main kinds of page, on a desktop screen or on a phone. Text and link colors pass a separate contrast check, too.

No one who relies on a screen reader has tested the site yet, and there’s been no outside audit. So if something trips you up, I’d much rather hear about it than guess.

Known gaps

On a couple of pages, the product card headings come before the first section heading. A screen reader’s list of headings skips a level there. It isn’t a WCAG AA failure, but it can make those pages a little harder to move around by heading.

The retailer and maker sites the buy links go to are outside my control, so how well those work is up to them.

Tell me about a problem

Email hello@cornernook.co with the page you were on and what went wrong. Tell me what you were using too, like a screen reader or a phone.

I read every email myself, usually reply within a few days, and fix what’s broken.
